Flying High With ‘Buzzard’ Acquisition

Jackup GB is delighted to announce the purchase of its latest renewables and construction based jackup barge ‘Buzzard’ which will sail to the UK from Belgium in March. ‘Buzzard’ is the second jackup barge purchased from Geosea, part of the DEME Group, in the last two years and represents an important strategic move for Jackup GB Limited.Jackup GB is the UK’s leading provider of large construction barges with both ‘Commander’ and ‘Buzzard’ currently being the most capable barges in their class.

The acquisition is a key strategic move for JUGB and enables the company to provide clients with sophisticated solutions in the ever more demanding environment of deep water construction, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM), plus O&M and cable repairs for offshore wind farm operators.

‘Buzzard’ is a 43m x 30m monohull design with a deck load capacity of 1300t, and a crane capacity of 750t. Standing on 4no. 55m long x 2.5m x 2.4m square legs she is able to operate in water depths of upto 30m which means that most offshore Round 1 and 2 wind farm sites can be accessed.
